Rafting Rivers
USA Raft has a ton of options for whitewater rafting. Six rivers in three states gives us more options than any other outfitter in the southeast. From Smokey Mountain National Park up to the heart of the Appalachians in West Virginia and down to down to the Pisgah National Forest.
The New
The New River flows north through North Carolina, Virginia, then finally to West Virginia. It’s the Grand Canyon of the east, and can provide a gentle summer float trip, as well as a heart-pounding white water adventure. Rapids differ from section to section, and range from some of the most gentle to some of the biggest in the east.
The Gauley
It’s big. It’s bad. It’s The Gauley, and it’s regularly ranked as one of the top 10 rivers in the world. If you’re up for a challenge, then the Gauley’s for you. Steep drops, powerful waves, and a beautiful gorge make this white water trip one of the best on earth.
The French Broad
Whitewater rafting on the French Broad is a great way to relax and have fun. This is a family whitewater trip that can be big in the spring, and more tame in the summer. It’s a natural, free flowing river that takes rafters right through the heart of the Pisgah National Forest.
The Nolichucky
A spectacular free flowing river, The Nolichucky comes from the slopes of Mt. Mitchell, the highest point east of the Missisippi. Maybe that’s one reason why the Nolichucky gorge is so remarkable. At summer flows, the Noli is a relaxing float with fun rapids. In the spring, it’s wild whitewater, nonstop!
The Pigeon
There are tons of things to do around Smokey Mountain National Park, but none are as much fun as rafting on The Pigeon. Close to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, running some white water on the Pigeon is a perfect addition to any Smokey Mountain vacation.
The Cheoah
After more than 70 years water has been returned to the Cheoah River!! From the early 1900’s, after Santeetlah Dam was constructed for power generation, all the water flowed through a large iron tube leaving the river bed dry. Now, the Cheoah River is a nine mile, non-stop thrill ride with steep tumbling rapids and several large drops, including the fifteen foot tall Bear Creek Falls.
